As the city of Sidney is hit by unprecedented weather phenomenons, lawyer David Burton is struck by mysterious visions. He has to defend five Aboriginals charged of having murdered one of them during a fight.

Starting as a thriller, Peter Weir’s third film (Picnic at Hanging Rock) turns into a mystical tale to gradually become a universal allegory. Very bold in its simplicity, the film captivates its audience until an apocalyptic ending, which can be interpreted in many ways. Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter) and Lucile Hadzihalilovic (Evolution) still haven’t recovered from the film.
