As their couple is having a tough time, Narumi discovers her husband Shinji has disappeared. He mysteriously reappears a few days later, but he seems different, appeased and serene. All would be well if a wave of violent crimes hadn’t started in the area.
With his usual talent Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Journey to the Shore, Kaïro, Cure, discovered right here in 1999) adapts a successful play and plays with genres and our bearings. Apparently a remake of The Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, this movie is really a bittersweet minimalist radiography of contemporary Japan disguised as a remarriage comedy. Noticed at the last Un Certain Regard in Cannes.
