Todd, a creator of horror comics, is very successful with his Slasherman, inspired by a serial killer operating a few years earlier. With his assistant, his manager and his girlfriend, who wishes to write a book about the victims, he sets off on a promotional tour hoping it will help him find the inspiration to complete his saga. But the journey is soon strewn with dead bodies. What if the real Slasherman was back?

After regularly showing his doofy face in excellent regressive comedies, notably with his buddies Seth Rogen and Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, The End), Jay Baruchel adapts Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti's eponymous comic book. In this intense and gory slasher, a road movie strewn with cadavers, without irony, the descent into hell is paired with an intimate quest. Going beyond the simple respect of the genre codes he nevertheless masters, Jay Baruchel questions genre and the artist’s responsibilities in a world that generates groupies to the point of insanity, and where reality and fiction are entwined. Tenebrae, In the Mouth of Madness, or Scream already evoked the issue using mise-en-abîme. Art or reality, which one influences the other? What perils face the author who unleashes his demons?  The answer is at the end of the road in the paroxystic finale!
