World premiere

From 1988 to 1994, in eastern Paris, the Établissements Phonographiques de l’Est have been one of musical counter culture’s major venues. A look at this mythical place, at once a record store, a concert venue, a gallery, a projection theater and a meeting place.

Yves-Marie Mahé, a great expert of French sonic culture (he’s responsible for the ORTF research department, for post 68 and pre-punk french underground music, or the 80s Bordeaux industrial music scene) brings back to life this ebullient underground temple patronized by Jean-Louis Costes, founder of L’Abominable Emmanuel Carquille, Éric Pougeau, Andy Moor and many others. Mythical !
