After meeting in a seaside town, Aochi and Nakasago, two retired teachers and colleagues, meet the geisha O-ine. Six months later, Aochi learns that Nakasago got married, and paying him a visit, he notices his wife's strange resemblance to O-ine.

Zigeunerweisen  opens the ball, setting the tone with characters dragged into libertine adventures that take them to the other side of the mirror. Ero guro esthetics are already prevalent in this distortion of reality leading to the supernatural, but always allowing the benefit of doubt, hallucinations and imaginary monsters. The mechanics of fantasy contaminate the editing as well as the narration: Suzuki drives his film like a promenade through sumptuous paintings.
