La galerie des monstres

Riquet, a comedian, marries the beautiful Ralda against her parent's will. They flee to Spain and find shelter in a circus.

You may remember the screening a few years ago of Marcel L’Herbier's L’Inhumaine (The Inhuman Woman) from 1924 ? The same year L'Herbier produced and was the artistic director of this Monster Parade, directed by actor Jaque Catelain, who also plays the lead part. Today forgotten, this actor and jack of all trades whose career spans over 40 years of French cinema, worked with Abel Gance, Jean Renoir and of course L'Herbier, on 22 occasions! Add Djo-Bourgeois as set decorator and a cast full of surprises (Jean Murat, Kiki de Montparnasse, Michel Simon) and the result is one of the best curiosities from the 20s.

This restoration has been made by the CNC for the 50th anniversary of the Archives du film.
