In 1913, on his way to Kyoto, a teacher crosses a village suffering from drought. Legend has it that it’s under a curse linked to the demon pond not far away : if the dragon asleep there awakes, a flood will submerge everything.
With this adaptation of a famous Kabuki play, Shinoda marries fairytale and tragic love story. With his fabulous collection of crab-men, carps, catfish, spirits and other yokais, Shinoda bewitches both by his poetical substance and his tribute to the theater. From one curse to another, Takemitsu gives way to Tomita with his electronic variations around classical music.
