Asha et Grey are violently attacked by four men. Asha does not survive and Grey remains paralysed and inconsolable. One day an inventor proposes to implant him with an electronic chip that will multiply his capacities and allow him to look for his attackers.
Leigh Whannell is mainly known for signing the scripts of the first instalments of the sagas Saw and Insidious, but also of Cooties and Dead Silence. After directing Insidious: Chapter 3, he chooses a new genre and takes a shot at science-fiction. Upgrade, an Australian cousin to The Matrix and Death Wish, produced by stakhanovite Jason Blum, with actor Logan Green (The Invitation), is a rather muscular 2.0 revenge movie.
