Trap of lust

Poster Trap of lust

Hoshi, a cheap assassin working for yakuzas, is tasked by his boss to kill a stranger. But he makes the regrettable mistake of returning to the crime scene with his wife...

Atsushi Yamatoya and Yôzô Tanaka, who both took part in the writing of Seijun Suzuki's Branded to Kill (1967) deliver a delirious rereading of the classic where noir film veers into porn. For Yamatoya, every genre, every film is malleable material that he sculpts following his inspiration and even when he feigns classicism, he ends up drifting into absurdity and eroguro, as testified by a stupendous sequence with a ventriloquist killer.
