Saloum

Poster Saloum

2003. Fleeing a coup in Guinea-Bissau, three legendary mercenaries from the Hyenas of Bangui must hide their loot and protect a drug lord. They're forced to find shelter in the mystical region of Saloum in Senegal.

Seven years after electrifying L’Étrange Festival with Dealer, the Franco-Congolese filmmaker is back with a new uppercut rooted in a troubled political context, an explosive mix of contemporary horror and scary tales, and in which archetypes also feed philosophical reflection. When the occult invests dictatorships, harsh noir hyperrealism is gradually engulfed by the night. Human pretentions seem insignificant faced with the uncontrollable forces of the invisible.

Saloum.
