The spine of the night

Poster The spine of the night

In a world beyond time and space, black magic has fallen into the hands of Evil. Heroes from all times and cultures fight to stop the world from sinking into chaos.

If you miss Ralph Bakshi's movies, The Spine of Night is spot on, as it resurrects with brio the atmospheres of Tygra, Fire and Ice or Wizards, in a flamboyant and ultra-violent heroic fantasy epic that sucks the viewer into instant fascination. Philip Gelatt and Morgan Galen King do not simply illustrate their models, return to traditional methods of animation or use rotoscopy, they adopt an untypical narration form, that owes as much to the terrifying Lovecraftian lore as it does to the worlds of Robert E. Howard or J. R. R. Tolkien. Mind blowing.
