A team of scientists tries to find into how many pieces a falling glass breaks. It’s actually an experiment concerning probability theories. An elder colleague invites this team to his manor. Once there, they realise they’re actually pawns in a full scale game of chance.
An independent film that took several years to make (and three years to write), The Laplace’s Demon is the second feature film by Giordano Giulivi (Apollo 54, released a decade ago). One thinks of a Twilight Zone episode remade by Guy Maddin, that compensates it’s lack of funding by a stupendously rigorous script. A surprising and undeniable success.
