The adventures of Eddie, a transvestite working at the Genet Bar managed by dealer Gonda. When he isn't fantasizing about his mother and her lover's death, he talks about movies with his cinephilic friends or with drag queens he meets in nightclubs.
A hallucinated reinterpretation of the Oedipus myth, this fabulous queer parade, featuring actor Peter, seen in Terayama and Kurosawa's movies, mixes fiction and documentary, Bertolt Brecht and Jonathan Mekas, in this nihilistic story and political firebrand, with incredible inventivity and wild boldness. No wonder this first feature film by Toshio Matsumoto, now in a superbly restored version, caught Stanley Kubrick's eye, then preparing A Clockwork Orange.
