In the early 90's a secret agen, Black Venus, infiltrates upper level North Korean leaders in order to retrieve information on the country's nuclear arms race.
After Nameless Gangster and Kundo, Yoon Jong-bin is back with this movie inspired by a true story, that resonates with current North Korean issues. This incredibly beautiful old school spy film is reminiscent of Internal Affairs and JSA: Joint security area and little by little takes a somewhat unexpected turn that gives way to emotion. The surprise of the last Cannes film festival, where it was squeamishly relegated to a midnight screening.
