After an accident, two men wander down the road. They have to accept the fact: they are undoubtedly dead.
When Quarxx leads us to the banks of Hell, he doesn’t just quote his classics - notably by sumptuously revisiting Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond. He continues to elaborate a world of his own dominated by madness and hallucinations. To be both dead and alive and well: Pandemonium’s superb symbolic problematic, erases borders, in a horror film that, however existentialist and contemplative it may be, never forgets to make us shudder and laugh. The filmmaker defines his three hour film as “a fantastic leap into the psyche and the fertile imaginations of characters in search of absolution.”.
