On the edge of depression, Sarah hopes to start a new life living alone in her childhood house after her mother’s recent death. But in her pretty pink tracksuit, a strange neighbour, a friend of her deceased mother, prowls around and imposes her presence, until it turns into a nightmare.
Ti West’s trilogy, started with X, gave the slasher genre new blood, inciting other filmmakers to return to the genre’s more grimy roots. That’s exactly John Valley's goal, who after his wild Pizzagate Massacre, now distillates everyday anxiety before sliding into the macabre and a madness that Tobe Hooper would not disown. The filmmaker plays with archetypes, mixing unmendable childhood traumas, a claustrophobic setting and gore outbursts. And his little doll house leads us into Hell.
