To save her younger brother, whose gambling debts have endangered the whole family, Mega, a former martial arts champion, must fight the criminals hunting them down. Sent forth by a psychotic priest, they have but one goal: to slaughter them all.
Having barely recovered from The Furious, we’re once again confronted to a ballet of chaos with yet another grand moment of intense cathartic brutality and gore, dominated by astounding Pencak-Silat choreographies. Not devoid of second degree humor, Ikatan Darah revels in the joys of excess: it’s a festival of flesh gashed by fists and blades, supported by a beautifully stylized direction. And, best of all, a novelty in this mainly male genre: an angry heroine leads this blood soaked dance: the fabulous Livi Ciananta.
