Born in 1960, British musician Jaz Coleman started learning violin and piano when he was six. Later on, he studied several musical disciplines, before founding Killing Joke in 1978, a reference in the post-punk and metal music. Bands inspired by Killing Joke are numerous, such as Korn, Metallica, Soundgarden or Nirvana (of the hit Eighties for Come as you are). The band becomes famous in 1985 through the song Love Like Bloods, and its albums such as Night time or Pandemonium belong to the Rock Pantheon.

The band will evolve to renew its creativity, while preserving the unique tone brought by his charismatic leader. He doesn’t hesitate to add his taste for occultism in the band’s tracks (the album The Courtauld Talks) and sound experiments of all kinds, while making many memorable world tours. In parallel, Coleman starts a few projects with Anne Dudley (Art of Noise): Songs from the Victorious City, with middle-eastern vibes, or his symphony rock saga (Us and Them: Symphonic Pink Floyd ; Kashmir: the Symphonic Led Zeppelin).

A strong opponent to capitalism, Coleman has decided to switch citizenship to become a New Zealander. He now lives on an island without power nor phone network to find inspiration, leaving his fans without any news. But be reassured, Jaz Coleman, the black angel of rock, always comes back, and grants us with a special appearance this year.
