Held as the favorite in the upcoming Italian presidential elections, candidate Aldo Moro is kidnapped in March 1978 by the Red Brigades. Two months later, he is found dead.

Marco Bellocchio doesn’t hesitate to take side in this passionate biopic on one of the darkest moments of post-war Italy, made a short quarter of century after the events that shook the country. Buogiorno, notte is a bold political reflection, without putting aside the cinematic aspect of his filmmaking, where archive footage ends up looking more artificial than the reenactment. A disturbing piece.
