As her husband Mark just got back in Berlin, Anna decides to leave him. Not for someone else, but something else : possessed by a creature, she will quickly sink into madness.

Possession is most likely Żuławski’s masterpiece. Back in Poland after the failure of The silver globe, he writes this multi-faceted script « in two months in New York, drinking the cheapest bourbon ». Playing opposite Sam Neil and the amazing creatures made by sculptor Carlo Rambaldi (ET, King Kong), Isabelle Adjani delivers a haunting and hysterical performance, awarded by several prizes.
