The great Sidney Lumet (Network, Serpico) adapts once again a stage play (after 12 Angry Men and The Seagull) and strikes again after The Offense : Equus is an unknown and morally unsettling movie,  with a great sense of storytelling and a sharp and precise sense of editing. In front of the camera, Richard Burton (Cleopatra, Where eagles dare) loses control as he faces the young and devouring Peter Firth (Tess, Lifeforce). A masterclass by a filmmaker at his best.
