Servais, a photographer, lands on the shoot of a licentious film to immortalize the performance of a downfall actrss. A bond slowly grows between these two people wrecked by life.
Winner of a César for best actress (Romy Schneider), this film was labeled as a « shakespearian night, where sound and fury are unleashed ». For his first French film, Żuławski adapts the 1972 Renaudot Prize (Christopher Frank’s The American night). It’s most likely the best part of the handsome Fabio Testi (Blood on the street), the surprising Jacques Dutronc and the nutty Klaus Kinski. The intimate score is composed by the great Georges Delerue. A film still unrivalled!
