In order to close an estate sale, Jonathan Harker travels to the Carpathian Mountains to meet with Count Dracula.
As a tribute do filmmaker F.W.Murnau, the director of Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre and Even dwarfs started small decided to make his own version of Murnau’s most famous movie. An exercise as spectacular and precise as fragile and personal, with a wonderful performance from Klaus Kinski, Herzog’s favorite actor, who adds a breathtaking solitude and a puzzling humanity to the character. Of the five collaborations between Herzog and Kinski, often described as stormy (as seen in Herzog’s documentary My best fiend), this film is maybe the most tragic and magnificent.
