À Bombay, un copycat prend la succession de Raman Raghav, célèbre serial killer, qui sévissait un demi-siècle plus tôt. Il est pris en chasse par Raghavan, un policier torturé aux méthodes peu orthodoxes.

Après les puissants Gangs of Wasseypur et Ugly, Anurag Kashyap revient avec un nouveau film toujours aussi nerveux et bouillonnant d’idées. Cette fois, il s’inspire d’un tueur en série indien tristement célèbre pour son macabre palmarès (40 victimes). Fort de ce point de départ, il oppose à ce fascinant assassin (Nawazuddin Siddiqui, vu dans plusieurs films du cinéaste) un flic junkie (Vicky Kaushal croisé dans Masaan) pour un duel au sommet.
