A student of Michael Haneke, Peter Hengl has inherited his sense of tension, but quickly leaves his own mark with his taste for the bizarre and his empathy. Everything is seen through Simi terrorized eyes, an innocent Easter lamb wondering what trap and what family secrets she’s stumbled upon. Family Dinner follows its relentless path towards horror, entwining Christianity and Paganism, religious fanaticism and the dictatorship of slimness. An exquisite dinner from the appetizers to the dessert, but one that will leave you with a queasy stomach.
