In 15th century Japan, Tomona, a blind biwa player, meets Inu-Oh, a masked deformed young boy and virtuoso dancer. Inseparable from then on, they form an extraordinary duo, captivating audiences with their incredible performances.
A visual and sonic tornado, Inu-Oh is at the crossroads of tradition and modernity, and shows all signs of both. Using both traditional and experimental animation Masaaki Yuasa (Mindgame, Lu Over the Wall) revisits ancient Japan’s history in the novel form of a rock opera fired by the voice of Avu-Chan, leader of the Queen Bees. A chronicle of an unwavering friendship exalted by rebellious art, Inu-Oh, through the rise of a star towards beauty, questions the need to leave the past behind and to remain outside the system.
