Discredited by the church for many years, this masterpiece from the atheist communist poet-filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, immediately followed the infamous short film La Ricotta in his filmography, and relates the story of Jesus with the taleteller’s polemical distance, transforming the religious story into a series of legends aiming to re-mythify rather than desecrate the christic figure.
