1995. The obsessive quest of a rebellious young gendarme, in the midst of a cold war between French and Belgian police, when two young abducted teenage girls remain unfindable.
After Inexorable, Fabrice Du Welz takes a sharp career turn with this bitter film devoid of any lyricism, inspired by a real life story that fascinated Belgium in the nineties. He adopts the form of a no-frills investigation noir film, dominated by a vision of humanity that has lost its humanity. Above the facts that inspire it hovers a sense of existential powerlessness, embodied by its savage hero (magnificent Anthony Bajon), within grasp of the truth, but thwarted by the barriers of the system: eternally alone.
