Cheng Xia Zi saves the life of Xiao Yu, a child who has just witnessed his family’s demise. Cheng feels compelled to remain by his side, while Xiao Yu becomes obsessed by revenge.
With this second adventure of the blind swordsman, Yang Bingjia goes into overdrive with an even more hectic epic work, that adds another chambara series to its inspiration: Baby Cart, that similarly connected innocence and a violent world. On top of its magnificently choreographed fight scenes, the story of childhood initiation - and notably the martial arts and assassin training - increases the film’s emotional impact, also helped by fabulous Yang Enyou’s performance. We're already dreaming of a third installment.
