A fisherman, witness to some industrialists’ illegal activities, is murdered. Enraged by grief, his widow, a pearl diver, now has only one goal: to kill the murderers one by one.
Between two very violent porn novels (Angel Guts : red porno and Sex Hunter) and the brilliant Evil Dead Trap, Toshiharu Ikeda directed a revenge movie at the crossroads of social and genre movies, following the path of Lady Snowblood, and probably later inspiring Park Chan-Wook. This fantastic liquid movie, where blue protective waters meet geysers of blood, slides into violent gut wrenching lyricism, a story of joyless revenge, supported by Toshiyuki Honda’s sublime score and Toshiyuki Honda’s haunted gaze: unforgettable.
