An emotional and musical voyage into a tumultuous love story freely inspired by that of eccentric genius Robert Wyatt and his artist partner Alfreda Benge, who drew all of his record covers after their wedding in 1974.
María Trénor portrays the passionate creative odyssey of Bob and Alif, a tale of love, self destruction, and artificial heavens set in the hippy era. This creative impulse between fantasies and realities associated to this tormented couple, sends us back to other artistic processes, like Burroughs’s Soft Machine. The mix of rotoscopy and watercolors conjures a feeling of mental confusion from which the dreamy sounds of Rock Bottom seem to emerge. Fifty years later, we listen to this masterpiece, carried away by this hallucinatory tale.
