A teacher, sent to a penitentiary for involuntary manslaughter, is confronted to prison violence and puts his life in peril by not submitting to a sadistic inmate who rules over everyone else.
This hard-hitting TV movie, directed by Tom Gries, mostly known for his collaborations with Charles Bronson, was released several times in theaters - but not in the US - and was even presented in Cannes. Shot in a real prison, with inmates as extras, it imposes a growing tension, a very precise direction and a subversive message worthy of the best Sidney Lumet films. Truman Capote's stark writing leaves no room for escape. With Alan Alda's tragic gaze and a terrifying Vic Morrow, The Glass House is a great movie, and one we’re especially proud to present.
