Mash-up specialists (reassembly and pre-existing images detournement), Matthias Müller and Christoph Girardet are mostly known to the aficionados of this practice for the multi-award winning Kristall (2006) and Meteore (2011). With The Phoenix Tapes, created for an exhibition on the suspense master at the Oxford MoMA, the two directors shed a new light on the obsessions of the director of Psycho and Vertigo and reveal unexpected links between several of his works. A rare and precious film.
