Sally Reynolds is hired as a secretary by debonair Mr Franz, a former puppeteer, now the owner of The Doll Company. After Bob disappears just after she’d fallen in love with him, she begins to suspect nice Mr Franz to have miniaturized him and turned him into a doll.
Attack of the Puppet People might remind us of the best Twilight Zone episodes, but it’s mainly one of the greatest tributes paid to Tod Browning’s The Devil-Doll. To this day, the superb miniaturization special effects remain amazing and give the film its never outdated poetry. Also remarkable is John Hoyt’s performance, as Mr Franz, as mad as he is pathetic.
