1953, Bill Lee exterminates insects and, prey to hallucinations after absorbing insecticide, he accidentally kills his wife. He flees to the Interzone where he becomes a writer. His descent into hell is only beginning.
In 1991, David Cronenberg delivered his version of The Naked Feast, William Burroughs’ novel published in 1959, and said to be unadaptable. The Canadian nevertheless met the challenge by emphasizing the hallucinogenic, nightmarish, tortured and autobiographical dimensions of the text. In a fantasy Tangiers where paranoïa is a second skin and where typewriters turn into giant prurient insects, and the character's wanderings become hypnotic and absurd. Rarely has decline been so stylized. Don't hesitate to sit at the table!
