Beware, a total U-turn for Gordon in this tense and nervous noir gem, based on a Marc Behm story (Deadly Circuit), in the spirit of Larry Cohen. Two years before Death Wish, Gordon portrayed a vigilante, but also took a strong poke at the conservative, puritan silent majority. Obsessiveness is just a step away from cleanliness, as are good manners from self justice. His vigilante (incredible Chuck Connors) may be grieving, but he’s nonetheless a terrifying psychopath.
