A small-time swindler, incidentally a lover of rare species, Kareb is proud of his latest acquisition, a beautiful spider. He doesn’t know it belongs to the most dangerous species, one that grows very quickly upon breeding. It escapes from its box. The invasion can begin.
This is the meeting between Kourtrajme and spider invasion movies, a pure tribute to the genre, respectful of all the ingredients, transposed into the projects. Sébastien Vanicek has clearly been well schooled – Carpenter, Ridley Scott, Romero – and efficiently proves it, even in the film’s contemporaneity: as if confronting horrible creatures wasn’t enough, youth still has to face a hostile police that sees them as… vermin.
