As the sun is burning up and about to destroy Earth, humans build giant engines, purposed to push the planet towards a new solar system. Time is of the essence.
Once again adapting the remarkable Sci fi author Liu Cixin, much more spectacularily and successfully, this prequel to Wandering Earth has its lot of emotions for disaster and cosmic lyricism movie amateurs. Fear of the apocalypse still fuels the imagination, but does so with more graphic beauty and spirituality than its Hollywood models, notably thanks to its chivalrous heroes (led by the brilliant Andy Lau) and the humanist ideas they stand for. What a poetic and metaphorical idea, taking our beloved Earth with us rather than to leave it behind! A breathtaking epic saga, over three hours long, and a big success in China. All aboard for L’Étrange Festival’s intersideral cruise!
