A Korean Boxer of Filipino ascent living off illegal fights is caught in an infernal adventure, between survival and identity quest, when he’s confronted to an assassin known as “Nobleman”.
Stars of Korean dramas, the young Kim Seon-ho and Kang Tae-joo happily change their image in Park Hoon-jung’s latest hardboiled noir film. Already guilty of directing The Witch and writing the scripts for The Unjust and I Saw the Devil, he still takes pleasure in mistreating flesh and wild pursuits, bloody till the final paroxysm, counterbalanced by ferocious black humor. Violence isn’t just entertainment, the anguish is shared and the pain is felt. Between laughs and frights, these two hours leave you breathless with clammy hands. Hang on, it’s a shaky ride.
