Winter 1944, on the Belgian Ardennes front. Seven soldiers lead by Major Abraham Falconer take refuge in the Maldorais Castle, inhabited by the Count Texier and Therese, his young wife. The Major decides to make it a strategical position as they wait for the enemy.
Starting first like an ersatz to The Dirty Dozen, Castle Keep takes a surprising turn where the absence of action and the waiting are just as captivating as the action and the confrontation of soldiers. With its prestigious casting (Bruce Dern, Patrick O'Neal, Jean-Pierre Aumont, Peter Falk, and Burt Lancaster who collaborates again with the director after The Scalphunters and The Swimmer), Sydney Pollack signs the most surprising film of his career.
