Dans une petite école élémentaire, une élève ingurgite un nugget de poulet infecté par un virus qui la transforme en zombie. Elle va à son tour contaminer d’autres enfants qui vont s’en prendre aux étudiants.

Première réalisation du duo Jonathan Milott-Cary Murnion, Cooties est co-scénarisé par Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) et Ian Brennan (Glee) et nous promet un cabotinage d’acteurs parmi lesquels Elijah Wood, aussi producteur, Alison Pill et Rainn Wilson. Un croisement entre The Breakfast Club, Gremlins et Arizona Junior, selon les réalisateurs.
