Alors que les parents voulaient fêter tranquillement leur anniversaire de mariage en confiant les enfants à la babysitter habituelle, celle-ci se décommande à la dernière minute. Miraculeusement, Anna, sa remplaçante, vient à la rescousse. Tout de suite adoptée par les trois chérubins, la jeune fille n’est pourtant pas ce qu’elle prétend...

Michael Thelin signe avec ce premier film choc un thriller sous forme de massacre psychologique, qui rappelle les premières œuvres de Michael Haneke, et qui révèle Sarah Bolger (The Lazarus Effect) à contre-emploi dans ce personnage manipulateur.
