1956. En pleine dictature colombienne, une famille se réunit à l’occasion d’une veillée funèbre. Mais des explosions dans la ville vont obliger les membres du clan à s’éparpiller dans les décombres et à vivre des aventures différentes.

Débutant de manière réaliste et choc (amis des animaux, vous êtes prévenus), Carne de tu carne vire peu à peu à la violence surréaliste sur fond de conflit politique. Ce premier film de Carlos Mayolo apporte ses lettres de noblesses au cinéma fantastique colombien et donne naissance à ce que le cinéaste a qualifié de “gothique tropical”. Un bijou de subversion morale.
