Dans un monde post-apocalyptique, un homme avec une usine à la place de la tête est poursuivi par des assaillants. Traqué, il tentera par tous les moyens de survivre.

Sous référence du cinéma expressionniste allemand, l’anglais Judd Brucke nous propose un diamant noir bercé par la musique sauvage et brute du groupe Die Baader-Meinhof Gruppe / Red Army Faction. Véritable obus steampunk fait de bruit et de fureur, Chernozem est entièrement filmé en VHS dans un Glasgow méconnaissable, qu’on peut qualifier de fantasme industriel, proche des univers de Guy Maddin et de Shinya Tsukamoto. Un digne descendant du cultissime Begotten d’E. Elias Merhige.
