Sven partage sa vie avec sa mère Edeltraut, atteinte de la maladie d’Alzheimer. Ne pouvant s’en occuper dans la journée, il fait appel à Daniel, un infirmier, pour s’en occuper. Mais peu à peu, les deux hommes vont se rapprocher l’un de l’autre.

Tourné avec un budget minuscule (500 euros), Heavy girls est le premier long d’un réalisateur qui, après les refus de producteurs, décide de tourner cette histoire intime en laissant une forte place à l’improvisation et en faisant appel au soutien de proches (avec sa propre grand-mère, non professionnelle, pour jouer le personnage de Edeltraut). Tourné et monté en trois mois seulement, Heavy girls est un concentré de liberté et d’énergie loufoque.
