 De retour à Almaty, Moro retrouve ses anciens amis en pleine guerre des gangs, et Dina son ancienne petite amie, devenue morphinomane. Décidant de lui venir en aide, il devra affronter “le docteur”, responsable de son addiction.

Immense succès lors de sa sortie en URSS (30 millions d’entrées), L’Aiguille est rapidement devenu culte, notamment grâce au charisme de son acteur principal, le chanteur Victor Tsoi (qui a composé la BO du film), et à son style à mi-chemin entre Jim Jarmusch et Jean-Luc Godard. Avec cet OVNI punk, Rachid Nougmanov offrait au Kazakhstan son œuvre la plus libre et folle, lançant la naissance de la Nouvelle Vague Kazakhe, et dont les films feront le tour du monde et de ses plus grands festivals.
